We have a team of dedicated professionals, associated members and an advisory board that share a common purpose: a desire to achieve excellence in executing transactions for our clients. 

Bret Logue co-founded the company with Harrison Wellford in 2009. Michael Pepe, a long-time project finance banker and a senior executive, joined with a team of professionals in 2013.  Bret and Mike assumed the role of Managing Partners and rebranded the firm in 2017 as GrandView Capital. Harrison Wellford remains active in the company as Chairman of our Board of Advisors.

MICHAEL F. PEPE, MANAGING PARTNER

Mike has had 30 years of experience leading hundreds of project finance transactions in the power, oil & gas, mining, paper, telecom and infrastructure sectors.  Mike has long-established relationships with individuals at developers, consultants, and leading financial institutions. At HSH Nordbank, Ambac, Deutsche Bank, Credit Lyonnais, Banca Intesa and FGIC, Mike has led project finance teams to structure and underwrite loans and manage multibillion portfolios. Mike has an MBA, LLB and BA.

BRET J. LOGUE, MANAGING PARTNER

Bret was one of the co-founders of the company. He has 20 years of experience in the clean energy and high technology sectors. Bret was previously an attorney at Latham & Watkins in their Silicon Valley and Washington, DC offices. Prior to that Mr. Logue was a Senior Consultant at Bevilacqua-Knight, Inc., where he managed commercialization activities for start-up clean energy clients. He graduated from Stanford University with distinction and received his JD from Stanford Law School.

DAVID WATSON, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

Mr. Watson has over 19 years of energy and project finance experience, focusing on originating, negotiating, closing, restructuring and monitoring debt financings. David worked for Progress Energy where he structured and priced complex merchant power transactions, including full requirements power sales, heat rate call options and capacity sales. At Dresdner Bank, David structured, analyzed and managed project finance transactions in a wide range of sectors, including, telecom, energy, mining and industrial processing.

Board of Advisors

Harrison Wellford, Advisor

Mr. Wellford has spent 25 years in the alternative energy and political arenas as a Presidential advisor, policy analyst and advocate, senior executive of clean tech companies, entrepreneur and regulatory and project finance lawyer. Mr. Wellford has advised Democratic President elects, Presidential nominees and Senate Committees on Presidential transition planning for over 20 years. He served as Chairman of Latham & Watkins energy practice where he helped establish the firm’s Clean Technology Group. Mr. Wellford holds a Ph.D. in Government from Harvard University and a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law School. He was a Marshall Scholar at Cambridge University and Valedictorian of his graduating class at Davidson College.

Richard Garcia, Advisor

Mr. Garcia is a pioneer in U.S. Project Finance and was responsible for building the PF teams at Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Credit Lyonnais (now Credit Agricole) and Natixis.  He brings over 30 years of experience as a banking and finance professional with a successful record of deal execution and transaction experience in project and infrastructure finance, corporate finance, and debt restructuring; as well as in depth skills in due diligence, credit and risk management. In addition to his Project Finance experience, Richard has held senior credit and risk positions at Moody’s, Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt, HVB Credit Advisors, and Natixis, where he was recently Managing Director and Senior Credit Officer.  Richard also served as CFO of a start-up telecom firm building a subsea fiber-optic network in CA, where he negotiated a complex restructuring of the company’s contractual agreements, becoming de facto crisis manager and gaining first hand turn-around experience with a debtor. Richard received his MBA from the Kogod School of Business at the American University.  He also holds a MA in Science, Technology and Public Policy from the School of Public and International Affairs at George Washington University and a BA in Political Science from U.S. International University.
